Coach Roderick Harrison, Camp Director
Roderick Harrison serves as the PE Teacher and Athletic Director at St. Raymond School, and is the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Woodside High School. Coach Harrison is a Peninsula native, and attended St. Raymond School for part of his education, graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School, continued on to UC Davis, and completed his Bachelor's Degree from San Jose State University. He is currently working on his Master's Degree in Academic Advising for Intercollegiate Athletes at Kansas State University.
Mr. Hawthorn, Mechatronics
Kenneth Hawthorn is a Mechanical Engineer turned teacher. As a consulting engineer he worked on a wide range of designs from electric motorcycles to LSPR machines. He holds US Patent 7,713,154 for a Fixed Pitch Continuously Variable Transmission. While working towards his teaching credential Mr. Hawthorn was selected as the first Salzburg Scholar from the Connie L. Lurie College of Education at SJSU. Mr. Hawthorn founded an introduction to engineering after-school program that served at-risk students in 32 San Jose area schools. He currently heads the Mechatronics program at St. Raymond school www.straymond.club (blog). The program is cross-curricular and blends the five domains of coding, 3D design, hardware, rapid prototyping and design thinking. His students become familiar with a wide variety of tools within each of the five domains in order to explore the idea of Technology Generalist. Mr. Hawthorn in on the national Teacher Advisory Council for Autodesk and is one of ten 2017-2018 Dremel Idea Builder Ambassadors.
